Sentinel · Fusion Cloud

Track, monitor and control remote operations

Outback Comms is customer demand led. Our customers asked for more than connectivity, and we followed them. Sentinel is a range of rugged devices built on one common core, and Fusion Cloud is our own platform that runs them. Both are designed and built in-house in Bundaberg, Queensland, for operations that are spread out, remote and often out of phone coverage.

What it does

Eyes on the things that matter

Sentinel devices sit on the pumps, pivots, tanks, generators, machinery, vehicles, vessels and people you need to watch. They report into Fusion Cloud, where you see everything in one place, get an alarm when something is wrong or goes quiet, and switch equipment on and off from your desk or your phone.

How it works

From the sensor to your screen, and back again

01

Sense

Sentinel devices and sensors sit on the pump, pivot, tank, machine, vehicle, vessel or person.

02

Mesh

Long-range LoRa mesh: devices hop data node to node to extend range.

03

Connect

A gateway switches between LoRa, Wi-Fi, Starlink and 4G, and connects direct to LEO satellite.

04

Alarm

Fusion Cloud holds every alarm, including when a device goes silent.

05

Control

Switch pumps, valves and gates from the dashboard, phone app or API.

Our story

From Starlink power to Sentinel

We started out powering Starlink in vehicles and at remote sites across Australia. That work became our Fusion smart power range, and Fusion grew into Sentinel. Fusion is now the name of our cloud, Fusion Cloud.

Starlink kits, mounts and power are still sold through our store.

Three steps in our hardware

  • Starlink power boosters
  • Fusion: smart power that runs and monitors Starlink
  • Sentinel: monitoring and control for everything else

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need phone coverage?

No. Devices talk to each other over LoRa mesh, and the gateway gets data out over Starlink, 4G, on-site Wi-Fi or direct to LEO satellite.

Can it control equipment, or only monitor it?

Both. The same device that reports on a pump, valve or gate can switch it.

What happens if the power goes out?

Every unit has a battery, so it keeps reporting through a power cut and tells you the power has gone.

I thought Outback Comms made Starlink mounts and power?

Yes, we still do. You can view our full Starlink range and buy from our store at outbackcomms.com.au.

Pilots and resellers

Sentinel is now real

We are looking for pilot customers and resellers. Tell us what you need to track, monitor or control, and we will show you how Sentinel and Fusion Cloud handle it.

Availability

Pilots and customer access

Sentinel is in productisation and pilots. Availability, supported features and installation requirements are agreed for each application.
