Farm monitoring and pump control

On a spread-out property, a lot of the day goes on driving out to check that things are still working: the pump is running, the trough is full, the fence is on, the pivot is moving. Sentinel puts a rugged device on each of those jobs and reports them to your phone through Fusion Cloud.

The problems we hear

What gets in the way

  • Checking water and pumps takes hours of driving every week.
  • Much of the property has no phone coverage.
  • A trough runs dry or a fence goes down, and nobody knows until the stock do.
  • Irrigators tell us channel management is still done by hand.
  • Machinery gets serviced by the calendar, not by how hard it is worked.
Applications

What Sentinel does in agriculture

Each application below is part of the Sentinel range on one common core.

Pump monitoring and control

Know a remote pump is running, and start or stop it, without driving out to check. Sentinel reports pump state, alarms on a fault or when the pump goes quiet, and the same device switches it on and off.

Centre pivot monitoring

See where a pivot is and whether it is moving and watering as it should. Sentinel tracks position and water pressure along the span, and Fusion Cloud alarms when a pivot stalls or pressure drops.

Tank and trough levels

Check water levels on every tank and trough from your phone instead of doing the run, with an alarm before stock run dry.

Irrigation channel gates

Monitor water levels in channels and open or close the gates you already have, remotely. Built to retrofit existing gates rather than replace the whole system.

Electric fence monitoring

Get told when a fence stops working, not when the stock are out. Sentinel logs fence strength over time, so a weakening line shows up before it fails.

Generator monitoring

Know a generator is running, how it is going and when it stops, wherever it is. Run hours and alarms land in Fusion Cloud, and it can be started or stopped remotely where the set allows.

Plant and machinery

Real engine hours so servicing falls due on actual use, plus utilisation, location and theft alerts for tractors, headers, loaders and other machinery.

Trailers and equipment

Know where trailers and towed equipment are, whether they have moved, and the state of their batteries, for farms, trades and hire fleets.

Remote site connectivity

One gateway that switches automatically between LoRa, on-site Wi-Fi, Starlink and 4G, and connects direct to LEO satellite, so data gets out from sites with no phone coverage.

On site

How it works here

Devices on pumps, tanks, troughs, fences and pivots talk to each other over LoRa mesh, hopping data back to a gateway at the house, the shed or another powered point. The gateway gets it out over Starlink, 4G, Wi-Fi or direct satellite. Where there is no power at the device, it runs on its battery and solar.

A day with Sentinel

Before breakfast you check the app: every trough is above its mark, the bore pump ran its hours overnight, and one fence line shows its strength dropping since last week, so it goes on today’s list before it fails. Mid-morning a pivot alarm comes through because pressure has dropped at the outer end. You stop it from your phone and send someone straight to the right span.

FAQ

Common questions

Will it work where there is no phone coverage?

Yes. LoRa mesh covers the property and the gateway uses whatever connection you have, including satellite.

Can I turn pumps and gates on and off?

Yes. The same device that monitors can switch equipment from the app.

Do I have to replace my channel gates?

No. Channel gate control is designed to retrofit the gates you already have.

Can I install it myself?

Talk to us. Installation depends on the application.
