Man overboard alarms and vessel monitoring

On a working boat, the worst moment is realising someone is missing and not knowing when or where they went. Sentinel Overboard gives each crew member a tag and the vessel a unit, and raises the alarm when a crew member and the boat separate, with the location to go back to.

What gets in the way

  • A crew member goes over and is not missed straight away.
  • Searching without knowing where it happened.
  • Vessels working well outside mobile coverage.
Applications

What Sentinel does in marine

Each application below is part of the Sentinel range on one common core.

Man overboard

Crew wear a tag, and the boat raises the alarm when a crew member and the vessel separate, with the location to find them.

Lone-worker safety

Man-down, duress button, check-in timers and GPS, so someone working alone can get help sent to where they are.

Remote site connectivity

One gateway that switches automatically between LoRa, on-site Wi-Fi, Starlink and 4G, and connects direct to LEO satellite, so data gets out from sites with no phone coverage.

On site

How it works here

Each crew member wears a tag, and the vessel unit knows who is aboard. When a crew member and the boat separate, the alarm goes off on board and is reported to Fusion Cloud with the location. A high-power Sentinel gateway can also power Starlink from the vessel’s 12 or 24 volt system.

FAQ

Common questions

Does it alarm every time a wave soaks the deck?

No. It is designed to raise the alarm when a crew member and the vessel separate, not just when someone gets wet.

Does it need mobile coverage?

No. The alarm works on board, and the gateway reports out over Starlink or satellite.
